Who are we today?

Muebles Martinez is today a company that offers a comprehensive service to decorate your home. We have a space of almost 5000 m2 where you can find EVERYTHING you need to decorate your home. Well divided by rooms and styles. We have a showroom of kitchens and bathrooms, custom cabinets, outdoor furniture, juveniles…. and, best of all, a team that mixes experience and youth, professional and with the aim of realizing the dreams of our customers. Whether you want to change your sofa, completely renovate your kitchen or bathroom or, even more, if you want a comprehensive project to reform your home, in Muebles Martinez you will find a selection of product and a team ready to fulfill your dreams.

1913-1919
ORIGIN
Although some carpentry work was already being done as early as 1913, our real history began in 1919 when we designed and manufactured our first piece of furniture. That was the origin, but surely Cayetano Martínez and his sons Pepe and Batiste did not think that this was the beginning of a beautiful path.In those early years they designed and created furniture to order, handcrafted with care and attention to detail. These were times when manual work, carvings and fine woods were valued.

1930
THE FACTORY
The years went by and we grew and incorporated new members to the company: cabinetmakers, upholsterers, polishers, draftsmen ..... Amidst the smell of wood and varnish, the first machines appeared. In the 30's is when the building where we are currently located was built. Hard times, of many hardships, with a civil war in between, in which we forged our identity and the idea that this family business is our life and is carried in our veins. An idea that will be transmitted from generation to generation.

TOURISM CHANGED US
In-house manufacturing was an important aspect but we soon began to establish commercial relationships with other manufacturers to market their furniture in our newly opened showroom.

1960
In the 60's the tourism boom arrives. These are times of openness to new styles in furniture. We had no choice but to evolve, to adapt to new trends and we were forced to expand our facilities. The product exhibition areas become more important. The sons Pepe, Jaime and Juan join the business. Grandfather Pepe goes blind and can no longer run the business, so the new generation, still very young, takes over the business.

1990
Until the 90's our business did not stop evolving, always adapting to the new styles in furniture. It is the boom of wicker and rattan furniture, highly valued by the European public settled in our area. The terrace and outdoor furniture are gaining prominence.... We started to live more in our garden and that led us to convert our old cabinetmaker's workshop into a beautiful outdoor furniture showroom with the best brands on the market. Without realizing it, we have been reducing our own furniture manufacturing and we have replaced it with a large exhibition of almost 5000 m2 that allows our customers to find furniture of all styles: modern, classic, rustic, youth furniture, outdoor furniture.....

THE NEW MILLENNIUM: NOT ONLY FURNITURE IS NOT THE ONLY WAY TO MAKE A LIVING
With the arrival of the new millennium, with the fourth generation of the family at the helm of the business and with the globalization of society comes a new evolution. We started to think about an integral concept of home decoration. Now it is not just about being furniture sellers, we must prepare ourselves to offer an integral project of the home to our customers. It has been a long time since we stopped manufacturing. Machines have given way to computers, 3D programs, plans and scalimeters. Now it is time to think about the furniture that best suits the needs of our customer, but also the carpet, the lamp, the painting, the painting, the flooring .... We start talking about INTERIOR DESIGN.

NOCTIS
It is in these years when we decided to expand our offer. On the one hand, we dedicated an exclusive space focused on KITCHEN in our main store in Benissa and, on the other hand, we opened a new store: NOCTIS Sistemas de descanso (2005) specialized in rest: mattresses, bases, pillows ... with a wide range of bedding and sofa beds.

CAYETANO MARTINEZ: THE GREAT GRANDFATHER

At the beginning of the century, around 1913, he arranged the necessary means for his two sons, Pepe and Batiste, still minors, to start working. A small workshop, owned by the family, was used by both of them to start making small carpentry repairs. Cayetano stood up for his sons, he was the one who was responsible and the one who made sure that his sons learned a trade.

JOSE MARTINEZ MESTRE (1901-1972):

The “iaio” Pepe (the grandfather). He is the origin, the first stone. He learned a trade as a child, grew up and created a business based on tenacity, first with his brother Batiste and then alone. Perfectionist, detail-oriented and upright, but also passionate, because without passion one cannot understand the struggle and involvement in saving and growing this business in such hard times as the Civil War and the post-war period.

PEPE (1936), JAIME (1940-2003) AND JUAN (1943):

The three sons who learned from their “iaio” (grandfather) that only work, effort and dedication can make a business grow. They take over the company when their father becomes blind and disabled. They modernize the company, improve manufacturing with modern machinery, implement new production systems and above all, when the time comes, they are able to see that marketing and not manufacturing is the best way to evolve as a business due to the boom in tourism and construction.

CURRENT GENERATION

The grandchildren Ana, Mª Ángeles and Pepe are now running the business.

Let’s not talk about us… The future will show whether we have learned from those who came before us.
